Ceramic Jewellery Making Workshop
Learn to make your own ceramic jewellery by hand
What: Ceramic Jewellery Making Workshop
When: Tuesday 6th November, 6:30pm - 9:30pm
Where: 1/10 Langwells Parade, Northcote
Includes: All materials, grazing food, organic wine & fairtrade tea
This is a beginner's hand building workshop without firing. Learn how to hand make ceramic jewellery pieces such as beads, pendants and hoops with clay, as well how to dry and waterproof them. Learn clever tricks to add colour & fabric to your designs all whilst sipping wine and eating delicious food in a cosy, and relaxing studio space in Northcote. We will also show you a variety of methods to add prints, texture and unique designs to the clay, as well as how to string them together once dry. Leave feeling inspired to make more with what you have learnt.
The focus of this workshop will be on making the clay forms themselves. As the clay needs some time to dry, you will need to attach the metal fixings on to the pieces you make yourself. We therefore won't provide the jewellery fixings for you, however we will provide you all the information on what to purchase and where (they are inexpensive).
Jennifer is an Artist specialising in sculptural porcelain, predominantly creating site specific installations and wall pieces. Her suspended sculptures consist of multiple hand formed pieces of porcelain, with most encompassing several hundred to thousands of individual pieces. All work is made by hand in Jennifer's studio and investigates thinness of form, light, shadow and movement through tactile forms that are inspired by the natural world. Graduating with First Class Honours in 3D Design in 2002, from Staffordshire University, UK, in the heart of the ceramic industry, Jennifer then gained a Masters Degree and moved to London managing design studios and working with a variety of clients, before establishing her own studio in London working on commissions for National and International clients.
In addition to running the studio, Jennifer expanded her design expertise training as an Art Lecturer, and has taught in a range of educational institutes from Universities to Colleges and private tuition. Relocating to her husband’s home town of Melbourne, Australia, Jennifer re-established the studio and creates work for clients both within Australia and Worldwide, whilst also lecturing at RMIT University.
